catechu
Catechu, popularly known as Katha, is a natural extract derived from Acacia trees, valued for its unique blend of medicinal and cultural importance. Rich in tannins and antioxidants, it has long been used in traditional remedies for oral care, digestion, and overall wellness. In addition, Catechu serves as a natural flavoring and coloring agent, making it a vital ingredient in food, herbal preparations, and cultural practices. Its purity and effectiveness make it highly sought-after across multiple industries.Trusted for its purity and versatility, Catechu remains an essential natural extract across health, food, and wellness industries.Manufacturing Process
At True K, only high-quality Khair trees (Acacia Catechu) are sourced from select regions across India. Each log is carefully stripped to remove sapwood, leaving behind the dense heartwood. This heartwood is then chipped into small pieces and pressure-cooked. The resulting extract, rich in catechu, is concentrated through a multi-stage evaporation process.
Upon chilling, catechu crystals begin to form and are meticulously filtered under controlled conditions. The filtered mass is then mashed, cut into uniform biscuits, and dried slowly at low temperatures to preserve its natural properties.=Specifications
Commercially, catechu (katha) is evaluated based on its texture, paste value (8–10 times), and aroma. A typical sample has the following characteristics:- Loss on drying (% by weight): 14 – 16
- Matter insoluble in rectified spirit (% by weight): 10 – 15
- Total ash (% by weight): Max. 2.0
- Acid insoluble ash (% by weight): Max. 0.5
- Paste value (water retention): 9 times
Uses of Catechu
Traditionally, catechu has been used as a key ingredient in betel quid (paan) and continues to play an important role in modern mouth fresheners like pan masala, often blended with areca nut and, in some cases, tobaccoIts unique taste—initially astringent with a cooling sweetness—makes it popular as a flavoring agent in condiments, candies, ice creams, beverages, and other food products. For centuries, catechu has also been valued in Ayurveda and traditional medicine for treating diarrhea, dysentery, and oral ailments such as gum infections, tonsillitis, and mouth ulcers. Modern research further highlights the benefits of catechins, its active compounds, recognized for antioxidant, anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory, and skin-care applications.Packaging Options

Cutch
Cutch is a plant-based extract recognized for its deep brown color and high concentration of vegetable tannins. Known for its eco-friendly nature, it plays a major role in leather tanning, natural dyeing of textiles, and as an additive in various food and herbal formulations. Beyond industrial use, Cutch is valued in traditional medicine for its soothing and healing properties, making it both versatile and sustainable. Its consistent quality and wide application highlight its global demand.Respected as both a natural colorant and a health-supporting extract, Cutch bridges tradition with modern needs.Manufacturing Process
The production of Cutch begins after the primary extraction of Catechu. Once the catechu crystals are separated, the supernatant liquor that remains is carefully collected. This liquor still contains valuable natural tannins and catechins. It is first filtered to remove impurities, ensuring a clean solution before further processing. The filtered liquor is then concentrated using a multi-effect evaporator, where water is gradually removed under controlled conditions. This process continues until a semi-solid consistency is achieved. At this stage, the cutch retains its characteristic dark color and rich tannin content. The semi-solid material is then shaped into blocks or slabs and immediately packed in suitable containers, preserving its quality, stability, and natural properties.Specifications
Cutch is known for its dark color and high concentration of vegetable tannins. A typical analysis shows:- Moisture (max % w/w): 12
- Tannins (min % w/w): 60
- Catechins (min % w/w): 30
- Insoluble in boiling water (max % w/w): 5
Uses of Cutch
Cutch is widely valued as a natural source of tannins, making it essential for leather tanning. When combined with metals, it produces a range of colors, making it highly useful as a dyeing agent for natural fibers. It is also used as a mouth freshener and shares several medicinal properties similar to catechu, such as aiding oral health and digestion. Beyond traditional applications, cutch finds use in oil drilling, printing ink pigments, adhesives, and other industrial processes.Packaging Options

Catechins
Catechins are powerful bioactive compounds with scientifically proven antioxidant and therapeutic properties. Found in natural extracts like Acacia and Gambier, they are widely used in nutraceuticals, dietary supplements, and wellness products. Catechins support cardiovascular health, strengthen immunity, and show efficacy in managing inflammation, diabetes, and digestive issues. Their role in skincare and oral care further enhances their importance in the modern health industry. As one of nature’s most potent antioxidants, Catechins embody the balance of health, purity, and prevention.Manufacturing Process

Due to the rapid transformation of L-Epi-catechin into its isomers, only limited quantities of 85% pure Epicatechins (L & DL) are currently available. On the other hand, we can supply high-purity D-Catechins (99%+ Hydrate), which are widely utilized by local manufacturers in the production of mouth fresheners and other applications.Uses of Catechins
Both Epicatechins and D-Catechins are recognized for their strong antioxidant properties, making them valuable in a range of health and wellness applications. Research and traditional use highlight their efficacy in the treatment of acute viral hepatitis, diabetes management, inflammation, diarrhea, and dysentery, as well as their role as natural chemo-preventive agents.Additionally, catechins have long been applied in oral care (gum and tooth health) and skin treatments, underlining their importance as multifunctional natural compounds with both traditional and modern benefits.
